Donation Hill Church

History

We are an independent Bible teaching Church. We teach only from the Bible. Through our ministry we desire to reach the local community and become a church that is known as a powerhouse of prayer and friendship, a place that is thick with God’s presence and filled with passionate worship. To be the people in which the Lord can trust with the precious anointing.  When your heart is fixed on the Lord, faith in Jesus Christ will part the storms clouds and remove the uncertainties. Your life can have assurance for today and tomorrow.

trustees

1955: Pastor F. Willis Chase along with Trustees, Homer Shay and Lee Hines, head the church remodeling with a basement, 5 additional classrooms, and two inside restrooms. Totaling $10,000. Bishop Showers returned to the location of his first pastorate (Deckards Charge) to participate in the church’s rededication. Even though this was the smallest and youngest of the three Charge Churches, Donation Hill Church continues to be active in exalting God’s work today with the exception of the 1978-1979 building shut down but didn’t shut down the members faith. 1978: Deckard’s Charge felt with the new church at Deckard’s, the people could go to Deckards. The church stood unused except when the church members felt they would use it. When found out, Deckard’s charge stripped Donation Church of all its furniture including turning off the heat and the electricity and all assets. Contracting DeWayne Shorts to tear it down.

BUT MEMBER’S FAITH PREVAILED! They held church in Ralph and Marie Atha’s house. Membership grew till the house was too small to hold all the members. Members Harold (wife-Myrtle and mother-Mildred) & Ralph Hines approached the 7 Deckard’s charge trustees and it was agreed the deed to the property would be deeded to them, not another church but to individuals. Under the legal help of Mr. Wilson, Harold & Ralph deeded the church to the independent Donation Hill Community Bible Church. DeWayne Shorts was approached with $200 collected in offerings to help him pay for any tools that he may have purchased to tear down the church. DeWayne was happy not to tear down the church.
MEMBERS HAD FAITH that the church would stay open for the community to continue to worship and work for the Lord. Trustees were appointed:
Harold Hines, Ralph Hines, Ralph Atha, and Bill Muse. Members filled the church with their own chairs and brought portable heating units. Pastor Ralph Atha served as interim pastor in the absence of other Pastors.
The Atha’s were instrumental in the foundation for keeping Donation Community Church open. We thank them for all their dedication and hard work. They will never be forgotten in the minds of our beloved members today.
1990May25: The church lost a very special loved one, Marie Atha passed away. She was dedicated to her family and the church. 1996April28: Her beloved husband, Ralph Atha passed away.

Present: We have had the opportunity to have Pastor Glenn Walker teach and guide us by Expository Preaching of God’s word. He preaches verse-by-verse, connecting doctrines of scripture. He drinks deeply from His Word so that we may hear it and that we would become conformed to the image of Christ. Marybeth Walker, his wife, is by his side, as we take the journey of
